Other British awards not covered elsewhere on the Long, Long Trail:

The Meritorious Service Medal

This award was originally for long service or acts of particular merit; from 1916 it was also for gallantry or meritorious service when not in face of the enemy. The latter awards ("Immediate MSM's") were announced in the London Gazette.

The recipient was allowed to use tthe letters MSM after their name.

The Long Service and Good Conduct Medal

This award was to recognise 18 years service in the regular army. Note: good conduct "badges" were awarded to soldiers after 2, 5, 12 and 18 years service. These were chevrons, worn on the left cuff, point of chevron uppermost (towards the elbow).

The Albert Medal

An award for acts of bravery or heroism in "preventing accidents in mines, on railways, and at fires, and from other perils on the shore". There was also a seaborne type.

The Territorial Force Efficiency Medal

Instituted in 1908 when the TF was established, the TFEM was awarded after twelve years service.
